What is IPL, Photorejuvenation, and Photofacial?
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a noninvasive, nonsurgical tool that can reverse the signs of photoaged, or sundamaged skin. This process of using IPL to treat sundamaged skin is also known as photorejuvenation. When this is applied to the face, it is a Photofacial. In a nutshell, by varying the spectrum of light and intensity applied to the skin, different skin abnormalities can be treated.
IPL skin treatments result in high levels of patient satisfaction. The treatment is quick, gentle, and noninvasive. There is no “downtime”, no interruption of routine daily activities. Dramatic results are seen within a very short time.
Lesions that can be treated include:
Irregular pigmentation such as epidermal and solar lentigines (age spots), melasma, postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, telangiectasas, port-wine stains, poikiloderma, and red hypertrophic scars. The treatment of these lesions results in a more even and younger looking skin.
Dr Weinrach owns and utilizes the Lumenis One, a true fourth generation intense pulsed light system with patented state of the art technology which optimizes power, pulsing and light delivery to provide maximum results, comfort and safety. While lower powered technology may perform Skin treatments using Photorejuvenation, there is a visible difference in results. Lumenis One treatments are fast. With the large spot size and 1Hz repetition rate, a full face treatment can be completed in 15 minutes.
Dr Weinrach feels that this is the most advanced, safe, and effective system available for Photorejuvenation. He personally administers the treatments.
